The rankings of South Tucson, AZ are somewhat surprising considering the city's small population. Despite having an estimated population of just 5,280 people according to the 2010 U.S. Census, South Tucson has achieved high rankings in several areas from BestPlaces.net. For example, the city is ranked first in both diversity and crime rate out of all cities in Arizona with populations lower than 25,000 people. Additionally, South Tucson is rated third overall for public schools and fourth in terms of cost of living within the same population range. Furthermore, it is recognized as one of the safest cities in Arizona with a crime index rating that is 39% lower than the national average. These rankings demonstrate that even though South Tucson may be small in size, it still offers a big impact when it comes to safety and quality of life for its citizens.
